Oregon grape has four-season interest: from early yellow flowers to clusters of pale purple berries in the summer, to fiery red fall color to evergreen winter leaves. This short-statured shrub has another hard-to-find quality: the ability to grow in dry shade! Oregon grape is truly a tough, versatile plant.

Plants with ample water will spread laterally and can grow quite bushy and tall, while those in shade will remain short and ground-cover-like.
