Yep, chives. Those chives, like what you might enjoy on a baked potato. Fun fact, they are native to western Montana, although if you don't know what to look for it's easy to overlook them. Outside of a garden setting, they tend to be small, maybe only one or two flowering heads, blending in with neighboring vegetation. They are common along rivers and lakes, often growing in the sandy cobbles near the water line.
Wild chives are little onions whose upright pink flowers attract a wide range of bees. When I grow them 'in captivity' they develop dense bunches with many flowers, just like you might expect if you've grown chives in your herb garden.
These chives are grown from seed collected from wild chive populations in Lake and Missoula counties. They will happily grow in your herb garden or anyplace with a little extra water and at least partial sun.
